Why does the U.S. get concert tours from only "hot new artists" while all the good artists tour Europe?

The Moody Blues have been touring America and many others like them. However they are not the draw that they once were and it costs a bunch to tour. Also America is still in a recession and its the kids with the money to go to concerts right now.
