My six year old granddaughter sucks her thumb and is destroying her pretty face.?

My six year old granddaughter sucks her thumb constantly. She sucks it so hard that it actually bleeds. I know that this will cause severe physical and emotional damage. What can I do to help her stop sucking her thumb.
