Is Jeev Milkha Singh a popular person in India??

I ask this question because in the most recent Masters Championship held in Augusta, Georgia. Jeev Milkha Singh of India was the first ever India born player to ever play in this prestigious event. Because of his accomplishments, did some of the people of India gain intrest in the sport of golf?? He was wearing a hat with a GMA logo/also on his golf bag. Is GMA popular in India?? It is a golf club maker based out of Japan.
